Black River Wilderness Park is Opening

Great News! Back River Wilderness Park Opening June 12

With campgrounds opening across the Province now is the time to book your spot at the Black River Wilderness Park. With well-spaced out riverside campsites, it is a great destination to re-invigorate yourself while practicing social distancing.

The Black River Wilderness Park, located on Rama First Nation near Washago, offers 180 acres of scenic camping experiences along the serene waters of the Black River. Set against a breathtaking backdrop of Canadian Shield granite, towering pines and the flowing Black River, this location is one that can’t be beat.

Outdoor Fun

With its wilderness setting, the Park offers ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Go hiking along the Park’s 4 kilometres and learn more about the flora used traditionally for medicinal purposes. For those water sports lovers paddle or tube along the river. If fishing is your thing, the river is home to a number of species, including small-mouth bass.

Campsites are spaciously distributed through four unique islands, some of which are connected to the mainland by bridge. The campground offers first-rate tenting sites and, for those seeking a more unique indigenous experience, authentic tipis are available for overnight stays.  For those seeking the glamping experience, Black River Wilderness Park offers four yurts and six rustic cabins that come with cozy beds and private outdoor barbecues.

There are also many sites with hookups for RV camping, which are perfect for large or small RVs. Recent campground upgrades include newly renovated washrooms.

For a coffee or to purchase an array of indigenous products stop in at the gift shop at the Park entrance.

Visiting the Black River Wilderness Park is the perfect remedy for many of us who have been suffering from cabin fever. To book now or for more information please call (705) 689-2502 or visit www.blackriverwildernesspark.ca
