As Easter approaches we start hopping with excitement that spring is here! Soon we will start to shed our winter layers, and we will be able to watch a time of new beginnings as the trees start to bud, flowers start to bloom and bunnies start wiggling their noses! The Easter long weekend gives us time to reconnect with loved ones, and there are some great activities just north of the GTA and easily accessible from highways 11, 12 and 400 in Ontario’s Lake Country, Orillia & area’s four season playground!
Tap into Maple – with spring time comes the fresh smell of maple syrup! Come and experience all things maple along the Tap into Maple route. This is a self-drive route highlighting 24 stops which all featuring maple products of some kind. THIS SATURDAY, be sure to visit theOrillia Fairgrounds Farmers’ Market as they are hosting “Maple Syrup: Then & Now“. The Simcoe County Museum will be onsite with equipment and demonstrations. Valerie Scott from Sunshine City Chefs will also be there filming her show and making delicious maple themed food. A pancake breakfast will also be available!

The Wye Marsh is open this weekend and are hoping to continue their Maple program, this is a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and learn about Maple Syrup production.

Easter Egg Hunts & Events – there are two Easter events in Ontario’s Lake Country this weekend! Downtown Orillia is hosting their annualGreat Easter Egg Hunt on Mississaga Street. Eggs will be hidden throughout Downtown Orillia and can be traded for chocolates! There is even a golden egg this year! Easter Extravaganza will also take place in the Coldwater Village! There will be face painting and pinatas!
Spring Festival – If you’re looking to celebrate the season, look no further than Chappell Farms‘ Spring Festival! Bring the family out to meet baby animals, hunt for candy, ride the wagon, jump in the jumping castle and more! Be sure to pack your camera!
