Come celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday in Washago! Start the day with a pancake breakfast at the Lions Hall. Afterwards, stroll the downtown, listen to live music, and enjoy more local fair – sausage on a bun and strawberry shortcake at Heritage United Church, a lunch plate at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and Rotary’s bacon on a bun in front of the pharmacy. Be sure to stop by the Washago Community Centre for more events! There will be a model train display (can you guess the year?), face painting, Ramara Historical Society display, animals, games, and free t-shirt art for the kids! Before the parade there will be a bicycle decorating contest in the arena. The CANADA DAY PARADE starts at 2:00 p.m. followed by cake at the Community Centre. Remember to register for Rotary’s Period Costume Contest at the tent in the Community Centre parking lot. We are expecting large crowds and parking will be limited…so, PARK AT THE PARK, and enjoy a free shuttle to the morning and afternoon events! Entertainment and food will continue in the afternoon and evening at the Lions Hall.
